How did Paris in the Middle Ages look?
Naturally, because of a lack of water people washed very seldom – without saying about washing of linen or cleaning. The reason is simple: water supply systems were not yet, and wells settled down only on certain squares. Water had to be dragged buckets and to bear home several kilometers.
In those days even kings did not know that such daily washing. In magnificent rooms of the French governor you would see a huge bed, a meter mirror with gilding, hours of the best French masters or still something. Everything, except two elementary things: water and wash basin.
gave Every morning to the lord a damp towel which the king wiped hands and a face. On it the morning toilet came to an end.
Russians were cleaner. The foreigners visiting Moscow 300 years ago a huge number of baths, "struck fulling of Russians in snow in a nude look and immediate return to a hot scorching heat".
Inhabitants of the Middle Ages did not wash? So can they belyishko changed more often? On the contrary! Parisians, for example, did it once a month if at least. For the night the clothes were taken off together with underwear and naked fell down.
In romantic and beautiful Paris was not even sewerages 200 years ago. Slops and garbage fell out directly of windows, and from ditches there was such stench that passersby tried to bypass it the tenth road.
